Training

Argus members and canines are required to complete training in many aspects of search and rescue. We hold training twice a week rain or shine, and also participate in search exercises and other events as they arise.

Active members are required to meet these minimum certification and training standards:

  • NASAR Fundamentals of Search and Rescue (FUNSAR); or
  • NASAR SARTECH II
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer; or
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers; or
  • Adult, Child, and Infant CPR
  • Standard first aid or equivalent; or
  • First Responder; or
  • Emergency Medical Technician; or
  • Any higher certification or license as approved by the medical officer
  • Personal fitness test
  • Equipment check
  • Active participation in Argus training and events

Most members have gone beyond the minumum required training to advance their skills even further. Some of the other training and certifications held by team members includes:

  • Amateur radio license
  • NASAR Advanced Search and Rescue (ADSAR)
  • U.S. Air Force Inland Search and Rescue Planning (National SAR School)
  • NASAR Managing the Lost Person Incident (MLPI)
  • EMT-Paramedic
  • Project Lifesaver Trainer
  • Crime Scene Preservation
